Hello!
I am thrilled to cover a topic that’s near and dear to my heart: pregnancy-safe herbs for herbal teas. Check out some of my favorite herbs to sip on in pregnancy and each one's benefits 🌱
Chamomile: The gentle charm of chamomile brings calmness to pregnancy. Its anti-inflammatory properties can alleviate discomfort, aid digestion, and also promote better sleep when taken at night before bed.
Red Raspberry Leaf: A celebrated herb for its uterine toning effects, raspberry leaf tea supports a healthy uterus and prepares your body for labor. Rich in vitamins and minerals, it’s a nurturing tonic and can be taken throughout pregnancy.
Ginger: A natural remedy for nausea and digestive woes, ginger tea is a fantastic companion during pregnancy. It eases morning sickness and helps with digestion, keeping you feeling comfortable.
Nettle: Packed with vitamins and minerals like iron and calcium, nettle tea is a nutritional powerhouse. It supports healthy circulation, eases leg cramps, and assists in maintaining a healthy liver and kidneys.
Peppermint: When the discomfort of indigestion or bloating strikes, peppermint tea comes to the rescue. It’s a natural remedy for soothing digestive issues and provides a cooling relief.
Lemon Balm: This aromatic herb is known for its calming properties. Lemon balm tea helps alleviate anxiety, stress, and also aids in promoting better sleep.
Lavender: Brew a cup of lavender tea to unwind and relax. It can ease tension, promote a sense of tranquility, and even help alleviate headaches.
Probably one of my favorite parts about utilizing herbs for wellness in pregnancy (besides the benefits they directly offer), is the ritual and relaxation of preparing the tea and embracing a warm mug in my hands. And if it's too hot where you are for a warm beverage, you can enjoy any of the above options chilled over ice.
For those of you who do not enjoy the *earthy* flavor of herbal teas, you can change up the flavor a bit by adding options like:
Citrus Peels
Squeeze of Citrus Juice
Sweetener, like Honey or Molasses - be mindful if you have gestational diabetes.
Cinnamon Stick - did you know cinnamon can help regulate your blood sugar?
Fresh Mint Leaves
Feel free to experiment with combinations that resonate with your taste and needs. Utilizing herbal teas in pregnancy is a nourishing way to practice self-care.
